Meltham 18 – Siddal 48
The previous matches between these two teams have always been very close affairs, and for the first 15 minutes it looked like this was again to be a game of end to end stuff.
Siddal were on the score sheet within the first minute, only for the All Blacks to immediately respond with a try of their own.
Siddal were the next to post points on the scoreboard, but again Meltham responded with yet another try to level the scores at 12 points each.
Despite some bright attacking play by Meltham, Siddal scored two further unanswered trys to take a 10 point advantage into the second half
The heavy pitch conditions made for an exhausting game and 9 man Meltham without the luxury of interchanges and facing the much larger squad of Siddal, both in numbers and physique, eventually were overwhelmed by a flurry of second half Siddal trys.
Despite the result the whole of the Meltham team should be congratulated on a passionate and determined performance from kick off to final whistle.
Tries:- Luke Pogson (3)
Goals:- Luke Pogson (3)

Slaithwaite 20 – Meltham 6
Slaithwaite mastered the strong wind and weather conditions the better, to win this tie between the two local clubs. Despite the result, there were signs of overall improvement in the performance of the All Blacks compared with recent games.
Yet again the damage was done in the first half by the opposition when Slaithwaite took a 16 points to nil half time lead. The second half was a lot closer affair and Meltham deservedly posted points onto the scoreboard with the final play of the game when Luke Pogson scooted over the line.
Tries:- Luke Pogson
Goals:- Luke Pogson

Meltham 10 – Brighouse 30
Meltham’s poor run of results continued when they lost their home fixture against Brighouse.
Defensively Meltham looked frail and too often the Brighouse attack drove straight through the home teams defensive line.
In attack the All Blacks were generally predictable with the play of the ball, however there were glimmers of excellent rugby, which led to two well taken tries by Meltham, both orchestrated by Luke Pogson. The first a clever grubber kick into the corner which allowed Calum Linton to pounce on the ball to score. The second from a long pass to Tristan Earnshaw which cut out two defensive players and allowed Tristan to race over the line.
Positional changes in the team, also showed promise for the future, with Lewis Evans taking advantage of his new position to attack the opposition with his jinking runs.
Tries:- Calum Linton, Tristan Earnshaw
Goals:- Luke Pogson

Underbank - Meltham 12
Meltham appear to have got into the habit of only playing for half a match. Yet again for the third week running they failed to score in the first half allowing the opposition to build up a commanding lead by half time which effectively killed off the game.
In the second half the All Blacks did show a slight improvement, and when they did finally get their passing game working, led to a try in the corner by Calum Linton after a clever interchange with Greg Thompson.
Jack Parkin showed power and commitment to cross the line for his try, but this occurred too late in the game to inspire a comeback by the All Blacks.
Luke Pogson, Calum Linton and Jordan McDonald kept the score to a respectable level with their double figure tackle count.
Tries: - Calum Linton, Jack Parkin
Goals: - Luke Pogson (2)

Meltham 14 - Queensbury 32
On a bitterly cold day Meltham never really warmed up, and the visitors capitalised on some poor defending to take a 16 points to nil half time lead.
Like on so many occasions Meltham performed a lot better in the second half, but the damaged had been done in a lacklustre first half.
Greg Thompson was rewarded with a try for some defence breaking runs, but the highlight of the match was Joe Lindley’s try late in the game, his first for the club, and surely the first of many as his performances improve week on week.
Tries: - Luke Pogson, Greg Thompson, Joe Lindley
Goals: - Luke Pogson

West Bowling 40 - Meltham 6
The All Blacks knew they had been in a game of Rugby League when all of the team left the field suffering with aches and pains in the bruising encounter.
West Bowling arguably the best team in the league at this age group totally dominated the game from start to finish.
Forward motion proved to be very difficult against the well drilled West Bowling defence.
Despite the dominance of West Bowling, all the Meltham team showed real character and grit, especially in defence and they should all be very proud of their commitment from start to bruising finish
Tries: - Luke Pogson
Goals: - Luke Pogson

Meltham 36 –Keighley 12
Meltham mastered the poor pitch conditions better than the visitors and dominated the game from almost start to the finish
The muddy heavy pitch looked like it was going to get the better of both teams, as forward motion appeared to be stifled, this coupled with some aggressive defending by the visitors in the first few minutes of the game, made Meltham work hard for very little gain. The breakthrough for Meltham came after 5 minutes when the ever influential Luke Pogson went on one of his trade mark runs, weaving in and out of the oppositions defence to put the first points on the board.
This was followed 10 minutes later when Pogson crossed the line for the second of his three tries of the first half.
In the second half Melthams superior fitness showed, the forwards powering through the mud and the opposition with ease, with good metres been made allowing Luke Pogson and Lewis Evans to feed the ball to the attack in promising positions.
Antony Barker powered his way across the line from 10 metres out to score his first try of the season, a just reward for the work and commitment that he shows week in and week out.
Tristan Earnshaw showed good support work when he positioned himself well to be able to receive the ball out wide and cross the line for Melthams fifth try and Tristan’s first for the All Blacks.
Calum Linton and Jack Parkin scored the final trys for Meltham, just rewards for their effort in both defence and attack.
Tries: - Luke Pogson (3), Calum Linton, Jack Parkin, Antony Barker and Tristan Earnshaw
Goals: - Jack Parkin, Luke Pogson, Lewis Evans and Greg Thompson

Ovenden 32 –Meltham 24
The under 11’s had not played a match for over 6 weeks, and in the first 15 minutes of the game this showed as Ovenden took control of the match scoring 16 unanswered points.
Towards the end of the first half Meltham began to show the form that they are capable of, and were unlucky when following the best move of the match, a marginal forward pass thwarted a certain try in the corner.
An All Black error deep in Meltham’s half at the start of the second period, allowed Ovenden to increase the score to 22 points to nil.
2 minutes later Meltham were on the scoreboard when Calum Linton crossed the line following a powerful run through the home teams defence, breaking tackle after tackle. Despite a further try from Ovenden, Meltham began to take the initiative and had the better of the second half, Jack Parkin scoring Meltham’s second try, when he barged his way through the defence. Calum Linton scored his second try in similar fashion to his first and was unlucky not to get his third when he was held up inches from the line. This however led to Meltham’s forth try, when on the next play of the ball; the ball was passed down the line, to allow Jack Zatorski to score
In all despite the defeat the All Blacks second half team performance was extremely effective and must give confidence to the players ahead of next weeks home fixture against Keighley
Tries: - Calum Linton (2), Jack Parkin and Jack Zatorski
Goals: - Luke Pogson, Jack Parkin, Jack Zatorski and Greg Thompson

Brighouse 38 - Meltham All Blacks 20
An under strength Meltham team visited Brighouse, and despite a couple of players playing whilst feeling under the weather got off to a good start taking a 14 points to 4 lead after 15 minutes. Despite the early set back of Brighouse scoring first, the All Blacks took charge of the game with the Meltham defence putting pressure on Brighouse leading to a number of errors in the oppositions attack.
On the stroke of half time Brighouse crossed the line to reduce the deficit to 4 points
The second half however was a different story, Brighouse capitalised on a wayward pass early in the half allowing the ball to be intercepted which resulted in a try to the home team.
An injury to the ever influential Pogson, depleted the team further and Brighouse gained the upper hand to score a further five trys.
Tries: - Luke Pogson (3), and Greg Thompson
Goals: - Luke Pogson and Jack Parkin
18 November 2007
Greetland 28 - Meltham All Blacks 10
A very disappointing performance saw Meltham lose to Greetland in what became a one sided match.
The All Blacks again got off to a poor start with the home side scoring first, within three minutes of the kick off, however Luke Pogson quickly responded on Meltham's next set of six to cross the try line.
Two minutes later Meltham took the lead when Pogson broke the defence on the half way line to race clear and score under the posts.
Greetland then took control of the game and Meltham appeared to forget the basics of the game with some poor defence and numerous handling errors.
Whilst their was a couple of good individual performances, the team on this occasion did not perform to the standards that they are capable of achieving and in the end Greetland finished the game as worthy winners.
Tries: - Luke Pogson (2)
Goals: - Luke Pogson

Meltham 20 Underbank 16
Meltham started the game with determination against local neighbours Underbank to totally dominate the first half. Jack Zatorski got Meltham off to a flying start with one of his trademark barnstorming runs to break through the Underbank defence and show a clean pair of heals to the chasing defenders. Luke Pogson was the next to cross the line following strong running by the Meltham forwards to make good yards and set up good field position.
Luke’s second try of the match was almost a carbon copy of his first, with the Meltham attack taking the ball to the Underbank try line, allowing Luke to scoot over on fifth and last.
The second half saw Underbank step up their game and put early pressure on the All Blacks, but the storm was weathered by the Meltham defence and Meltham counter attacked on their next set of six which led to Jack Zatorski crossing the line for his second try of the game, to give the All Blacks a 16 point cushion with 15 minutes of the game remaining. Underbank scored their second try of the game after 30 minutes to reduce the deficit to 10 points, but Meltham continued to pile on the pressure and Frazer Morris was unlucky not to add his name to the score sheet when he ran onto a clever cross field kick by Luke Pogson only to have his effort disallowed for offside. With the last play of the game Meltham’s normally reliable defence had a lapse of concentration which allowed Underbank to score a converted try.
Following last weeks narrow defeat, the whole team showed a great team effort and determination to put the disappointment behind them and were worthy winners in this encounter.
Tries: - Jack Zatorski (2) and Luke Pogson (2)
Goals:- Jack Parkin, and Luke Pogson

Queensbury 20 – Meltham 18
A lacklustre first half by Meltham saw them trailing by 12 points to nil after fifteen minutes following three trys by the home side.
Jack Zatorski showed the only real spark of the first half by breaking through the Queensbury defence with a powerful 30 m run to cross over the line to score, however Queensbury quickly responded by scoring a try of their own to take a 16 point to 6 half time lead.
The second half saw a totally different performance by the All Blacks, who totally dominated the play, both in attack and defence.
Calum Linton started the come back, showing grit and tenacity, when he received the ball on the half way line and broke tackle after tackle to power his way over the line.
Although Queensbury again responded with a try of their own, Meltham reduced the deficit to two points when the ever impressive Luke Pogson crossed the line.
Meltham were unlucky not to take the lead when a clever cross field kick from Luke Pogson, allowed Joe Lindley to pounce on the ball, but the try was ruled out when Joe was judged to be offside.
Meltham again came close to taking the lead when the ball was passed out to Tristan Earnshaw on the wing, who was held inches short of the try line.
Man of the Match was awarded to Jordan McDonnell,
Tries: - Jack Zatorski, Calum Linton, and Luke Pogson
Goals:- Jack Parkin, Jack Zatorski, and Luke Pogson

Meltham v West Bowling
Due to holidays, an under strength Meltham played host to West Bowling, a team which have remained unbeaten for three years.
With the first play of the ball, West Bowling crossed the line to score, but after this initial wake up call, Meltham composed themselves and really upped their game, scoring three great trys of their own, and defending well letting West Bowling know they really had a game on their hands.
At half time West Bowling held a slender lead of 22 to 16.
The beginning of the second half remained a tight affair with neither team breaching the oppositions defence for the first ten minutes.
In the final ten minutes it all started to go wrong for a tired Meltham team. The superior numbers of the visiting team, allowed them to rotate players, a luxury which Meltham did not and West Bowling began to score at will.
Man of the Match was awarded to Greg Thompson, but it was an all round gutsy team display against the best team in the league
Tries: - Greg Thompson , Jack Parkin and Jordan McDonnell,
Goals:- Jack Parkin, and, Luke Pogson

Halifax Irish 12 – Meltham 32
On a bleak hillside, on the outskirts of Halifax these two young teams put on a glittering display of Rugby League. Both teams playing attractive adventurous rugby, in the true spirit of the game.
The difference between the two sides was the All Blacks defence which despite some sustained pressure from Halifax restricted the home team to scoring only one try in each half. The defensive game with every match and is now beginning to operate as a cohesive unit.
On the attack Meltham always looked dangerous and scored six stunning trys , the best of the bunch being a play which saw the ball pass through five Meltham players hands before it reached Greg Thompson out on the wing, who then completed the move by running down the wing to cross in the corner.
Tries: - Greg Thompson , Frazer Morris, Jack Zatorski, Jordan McDonnell, and Luke Pogson (2)
Goals:- Jack Parkin, Frazer Morris, Luke Pogson and Jack Zatorski

Keighley 6 – Meltham All Blacks 34
The long journey to Keighley proved not to be in vain following this convincing win by the All Blacks.
An all round excellent team performance, the best of the season so far, was enhanced by a number of firsts for certain individual players.
Jack Zatorski scored his first points for the club, with a brace of tries and a conversion, in only the forth game of his career. Tristan Earnshaw scored his first points of the season with a conversion and debutante Toby Kowalski was unlucky not to be on the score sheet.
Greg Thompson got Meltham off to the perfect start scoring two tries in the first five minutes, showing belief in his abilities with his strong aggressive running to beat the Keighley defence.
Jack Zatowski, and Calum Linton then extended the score with a try apiece to give a half time score of 22-0 to the All Blacks.
Despite an early try in the second half by the home side, the All Blacks continued the fine work of the first half, dominating the game, with some stout defending, leading to a number of Keighley handling errors and giving the advantage back to Meltham.
Further tries from Jack Zatorski and Luke Pogson reinforced the dominance of the Meltham side.
Tries: - Greg Thompson (2), Jack Zatorski (2), Calum Linton, and Luke Pogson
Goals:- Jordan McDonnell, Frazer Morris, Lewis Evans, Tristan Earnshaw and Jack Zatorski

Meltham All Blacks 26 – Ovenden 10
The opening quarter of this game showed the true class of this Meltham side, where they totally dominated the game with some free flowing Rugby which allowed them to take a 16 points to nil advantage, thanks to two trys from, Luke Pogson and one from Frazer Morris with conversions from both Luke and Jack Parkin.
In the last 10 minutes of the first half Ovenden began to apply the pressure, however the All Blacks defence, which had in recent weeks being the teams Achilles heal, stood firm. and showed the form of last season where this had been one of their strong points.
In the second half Meltham took their foot off the gas and made a number of handling errors which gave the opportunity for Ovenden to cross the line on two occasions.
Meltham did however score two further trys trough Pogson with a conversion by Jordan McDonall.
The team can take great heart from this display.

Newsome 30 - Meltham All Blacks 10
Following last weeks inspired performance the All Blacks came crashing down to earth in this encounter with Newsome, Despite a great start with Luke Pogson crossing over the line, to score a converted try in the first 3 minutes, Newsome quickly struck back, and this coupled with some poor defending by Meltham, allowed Newsome to take control of the game.
Meltham never showed the true capabilities they have, however Man of the Match Luke Pogson did score a late consolation try.

Meltham All Blacks 30 – Siddal 24
The All Blacks started their home fixtures with an impressive display against Siddal.
Meltham received an early wake up call by conceding a converted try within the 1st minute of the kick off, however, 3 unanswered Meltham trys within the next 12 minutes settled the nerves and allowed Meltham to play some adventurous rugby.
Tries by Greg Thompson and Luke Pogson (2), with conversions by Jack Parkin and Lewis Evans gave the All Blacks a 16-6 lead at half time.
Within 2 minutes of the restart Calum Linton crossed over the line in the corner, to further increase the lead.
Siddal then hit back with two unanswered converted tries to reduce the deficit to 2 points, but the All Blacks raised their game further, and Jordan McDonald who had been a constant threat to the Siddal defence with his barnstorming runs capped off his Man of the Match display with a 40m run breaking 3 tackles to cross the line.
This was quickley followed by a further try from Greg Thompson which was converted by Pogson to further increase the lead.
With the last play of the game Siddal crossed the line to reduce the deficit.
This was an impressive all round display by the whole team with some tremendous passing, drives and offloads.

The All Blacks travelled to Ovenden to take part in the annual Co-op festival. Meltham were grouped with Newsome, Ovenden and Brighouse
Once again Meltham got off to a slow start losing the opening game against Newsome, but after a stirring team talk by the coach, the team raised their game drawing the second game against Ovenden and putting in a convincing winning performance in their last match against Brighouse.
Try scorers were Luke Pogson (2), Calum Linton, Frazer Morris, Greg Thompson, Jordan McDonald, and Antony Barker.

West Bowling 46 – Meltham All Blacks 16
The All Blacks travelled to Bradford for their opening game of the season to compete with a very well organised and skilful West Bowling team.
Meltham got off to a slow start with West Bowling taking a 36 – 4 lead by half time.
However Meltham raised their game in the second half and competed like for like with West Bowling.
Man of the Match Luke Pogson scored Meltham’s 3 trys despite taking some heavy knocks from the West Bowling defence. Jack Parkin and most improved player of the week Frazer Morris scored a goal a piece to add their names to the score sheet.
Special mention should be made to Jack Zatorski who proved he has great potential, in his first ever competitive game of Rugby.
Despite the score line, all the Metham team acquitted themselves very well showing that they are ready to move on to the next level utilising techniques that they had worked on in the close season training.
